Unang aklat na nailathala. Unang book launching na rin. Ano daw ba ang pakiramdam? Wala. As in wala lang. Parang naglalaro lang. Tama nga siguro ang sabi sa huling pahina ng libro. May sayad nga ata ako. O baka bato lang talaga ako.
Literary critic Christopher Lipscomb from Great Britain found interest in my book and shared his take on it. Nope, I did not edit or change anything from his review as evidence of sportsmanship (sportsmanship daw o!). Mr. Lipscomb is the Head of Human Resources of Al Tamimi & Co., the largest and most dynamic non-affiliated law firm in the Middle East with 13 offices across 7 countries. Here is what Mr. Lipscomb had to say:
“To be quite honest when I started reading the book, I was not too sure what to expect as I do not typically buy thrillers or murder mystery type novels. However, the book grabbed me from the beginning through its less conventional style. Raw and clever and at the same time a book that touches on many taboo subjects which we all know exist but many don’t want to write about. In the end I found myself getting up an extra 30 minutes early in the mornings just to read the next few chapters as I found the book very addictive and the characters well developed. The theme of endemic corruption at the highest levels in the Philippines came through strongly and made for a great ending which was full of suspense. For me the lawyer and the prostitute were interesting characters who you could both empathize with. The book screams to me for a sequel as the finale left you hanging and did not necessarily reaffirm your sense that justice had been done. I really feel that this book could appeal to a larger international audience – particularly in the US and the UK and not just amongst the Filipino ex pat community. The book is very well written and the use of language is clever. There were a couple of small typos and the occasional slip on the English side but none of these things detracted in any way from what I thought was a really great book which deserves to do well. I would most certainly go out and buy a sequel”
